OUr client is currently seeking a System Administrator with deep knowledge of Tanium to their growing technical services team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about endpoint security, patch compliance, and vulnerability remediation within complex enterprise environments.
Job Summary
As a System Administrator focused on endpoint security and compliance, you will take a leading role in deploying, managing, and optimizing Tanium to deliver high-impact services to our internal operations and clients. You will be responsible for leveraging Tanium’s full suite of modules to improve endpoint visibility, enforce patch compliance, and support vulnerability mitigation initiatives. Supporting tools such as IBM BigFix, Rapid7, and SolarWinds will complement your responsibilities to ensure comprehensive infrastructure monitoring and remediation.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary administrator for the Tanium platform, managing modules including Patch, Comply, Discover, Asset, Interact, and others to deliver end-to-end endpoint management and security.
- Design, configure, and execute patching strategies using Tanium to ensure high compliance across Windows and Linux environments.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to interpret Tanium findings and execute remediation actions for identified vulnerabilities.
- Build and maintain custom dashboards and reporting in Tanium to track compliance metrics, security posture, and asset inventory.
- Coordinate with security teams to respond to alerts and incidents using Tanium’s real-time data collection and threat response features.
- Support other patch and compliance tools such as IBM BigFix and Rapid7 InsightVM for complementary security measures.
- Utilize SolarWinds for monitoring infrastructure health and ensuring network and server availability.
- Perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot performance issues, and continuously enhance endpoint security processes.
- Participate in security audits, compiling data from Tanium and other systems to meet compliance requirements.
- Document procedures, patching policies, and standard operating procedures for Tanium and related systems.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience administering Tanium in a production environment, including deployment and maintenance of multiple modules.
- Demonstrated experience using Tanium for patch management, vulnerability scanning, asset discovery, and compliance reporting.
- Strong understanding of endpoint management and Windows Server environments (2008–2022); Linux experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management tools such as Rapid7 and patching platforms like IBM BigFix.
- Experience working with infrastructure monitoring tools (SolarWinds preferred).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
