Job Description
Our client is an international manufacturing company with a very strong national presence that is an expert in 2 of their specific industry fields. They are currently looking for a new Plant Controller who will will report to the VP Finance, with a dotted line to the EVP Manufacturing and work out of their main headquarters located in Tamarac, FL.
The Plant Controller will have a leadership role in proactively partnering with the management team to support the Manufacturing team as well as supporting the corporate finance and accounting teams. Their HQ office will book all standard close entries, the Plant Controller will be tasked with understanding the close process and providing oversight to make sure all financials are properly recorded and make sound business and financial sense. This person will also be a key player on the management team providing key analysis and insights to guide decision making as well as taking a leadership role to improve financial performance. The Plant Controller will be tasked with budgeting and forecasting financials, as well as assisting in generating, validating, and understanding KPI’s as part of the Manufacturing management team.
Responsibilities:
• Provides accurate and timely operational performance reporting to meet the needs of the company leadership team including monthly and quarterly plant performance commentaries.
• Provides financial advice and assistance to the management team to ensure decision making is made on a sound financial and operational basis.
• Conduct monthly business review with upper management, participate in monthly S&OP and other operational meetings.
• Uses data analysis techniques to identify and make recommendations to improve performance and lower unit costs.
• Instills strong cost control/ reporting and planning discipline to assist senior management in controlling manufacturing costs while improving customer service and quality.
• Provides leadership and direction to the shared service accounting team to ensure the financial accounting and reporting needs of the plants are met to enable the management team to meet financial goals and objectives.
• Responsible for understanding critical financial reports such as profit and loss statements, KPI’s, and balance sheets.
• Shared responsibility for the accuracy and timeliness of the month-end close process.
• Present financial reporting and potential risk areas to senior management.
• Analyze and explain unusual variance trends.
• Works with management structure to raise their financial awareness and acumen.
• Assists management team with short to long term capital planning including identifying and evaluating financial payback on all new capital expenditure proposals.
• Conducts post implementation capital project reviews to ensure projects achieve financial objectives.
• Responsible for the budgeting and forecasting future results.
• Assist the external audits for year-end financial statements and taxes as needed.
• Ensures strict compliance to all company policies procedures and controls.
• Key focus areas include materials cost management labor cost and overhead expenditure control.
• Additional duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or commensurate experience.
• 5-10 years' experience as a controller in a large sized manufacturing environment is required.
• Required mastery of manufacturing and operational accounting.
• Large ERP experience required. SAP experience preferred.
• CPA or CMA Preferred.
