Construction Surveying Specialist / Field Engineer
Location: Raynham, MA (Hybrid – Field & Office)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000 – $90,000 per year (based on experience)
Schedule: Hybrid (Field work multiple days/week in the Boston area + periodic office time)
About the Role
We are seeking a Construction Surveying Specialist / Field Engineer to support active construction and steel fabrication projects through field surveying, site layout, and as-built documentation. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys being onsite, working with modern surveying tools, and delivering accurate field data that supports engineering and detailing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform construction layout and as-built surveys for active job sites
- Travel to job sites in the Boston area multiple days per week to collect field measurements
- Operate and maintain Leica Robotic Total Stations, levels, line lasers, and hand measurement tools
- Create accurate as-built drawings, sketches, and documentation for detailers and engineers (AutoCAD or hand-drawn)
- Ensure field data accuracy, quality, and consistency across all projects
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and detailing teams
- Maintain field equipment and ensure tools are in proper working condition
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in a construction surveying role (Survey Crew Chief or similar)
- Strong experience with construction layout and as-builts
- Proficiency using Leica Robotic Total Station
- Experience maintaining surveying equipment and collecting field data
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently in the field and collaborate with office-based teams
- Experience in heavy construction, especially steel construction
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Experience with Carlson Software and data collectors
- Experience using Leica BLK360 3D Scanner (a plus)
