About the Role:
The Electrician Technician Level 1 is responsible for maintaining the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of the datacenter's electrical systems. This includes critical power distribution from utility/generator main switchgear through the UPS systems out to customer load and maintaining mechanical and fire life safety systems. The role demands proactive involvement in the maintenance and repair of electrical infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted power supply and operational efficiency. 
Responsibilities:
• Operate, monitor, and maintain facilities systems including mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems. • Develop creative approaches to reduce operational costs, improve efficiency, and implement new strategies. • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards including NEC, NFPA 70E, and other applicable codes. • Perform installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of large-scale electrical and mechanical equipment. • Coordinate with contractors and consultants to ensure quality assurance for system expansions or corrections. • Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs in collaboration with the Facilities manager. • Respond to emergency situations and abnormal conditions in a timely manner. • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance work, inspections, and repairs. • Engage in continuous learning and training related to datacenter operations.
Qualifications: 
1. Technical Knowledge: • Electrical Systems Expertise: Profound understanding of electrical distribution and layout, including knowledge of transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and PDUs. Familiarity with static UPS and ATS systems is a MUST. • Mechanical Systems Knowledge: Good grasp of mechanical components relevant to datacenter operations such as chilled water systems, cooling towers, CRAC/CRAH units, and HVAC systems. Understanding of water treatment systems and VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) is also important. • Fire Life Safety Systems: Knowledge of both wet sprinkler and double interlock pre- action sprinkler systems, including their associated detection devices. Familiarity with NFPA standards related to fire safety systems. • Familiar with NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace), and NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code). • Knowledge of building codes and compliance issues regarding fire life safety and electrical systems. • Understands industrial safety best practices such as lockout/tagout, arc flash protection, and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations. 
2. Diagnostic and Problem-Solving Skills: • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot issues with complex electrical and mechanical systems. • Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools such as multimeters and infrared cameras. • Capability to read and interpret system and equipment drawings, blueprints, and schematics to effectively identify and resolve issues. 
3. Technical Proficiency:• Experienced in the use of PC-based integrated critical monitoring systems for data trending, tracking, and analysis. • Competency in installing, maintaining, and adjusting mechanical and electrical parts and hardware using hand and power tools. • Skilled in the operation of hand and machine tools relevant to electrical and mechanical work. 
4. Communication and Collaboration: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to produce clear and precise reports and documentation.• Proficient in coordinating and supervising contractors to ensure adherence to quality standards and safety protocols. • Capable of working effectively under high stress and in fast-paced environments with varying temperatures. • Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality or safety. • Prepared to work irregular hours, including nights, holidays, and weekends as required by operational needs.
