Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Buyer I to support purchasing and inventory operations for a well-established distribution company. This role is responsible for executing purchasing activities, supporting inventory availability, and maintaining strong vendor relationships in a fast-paced supply chain environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently within established procedures.
Key Responsibilities
• Create and manage purchase orders, including vendor follow-ups and delivery tracking
• Maintain accurate purchasing data in the ERP system and ensure timely closure of open orders
• Communicate with vendors to manage routine inquiries and resolve issues
• Coordinate with Warehouse and Accounts Payable to ensure proper matching of purchase orders, receipts, and invoices
• Support inventory replenishment based on demand, lead times, and internal requirements
• Apply knowledge of pricing, landed costs, and purchasing controls in daily buying decisions
• Utilize purchasing and inventory systems effectively (Sage experience preferred)
• Assist with documenting and standardizing purchasing processes
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs
Qualifications
• 5–10 years of purchasing or procurement experience in distribution, wholesale, or similar environments (HVAC experience a plus)
• Strong understanding of purchasing fundamentals and inventory flow
• Bilingual in English and Spanish required
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
• Experience with ERP or purchasing systems (Sage or similar preferred)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-up skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and vendor relationship skills
• Professional, team-oriented attitude
