The payroll/benefits specialist is responsible for the timely, accurate, compliant and confidential processing of timekeeping, payroll and labor management data supporting approximately 100-200 employees. The specialist will also have knowledge of the compensation policies, standards and procedures, benefits and wellness administration. 

 

Some responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring timely processing of payroll for employees in compliance with company policies as well as federal, state and local tax regulations 
  • Administering bi-weekly payroll for hourly, non-exempt, exempt and commissioned employees 
  • Compile, review and analyze payroll reports and summaries with attention to payroll preventative and detective controls 
  • Serve as the liaison for the benefits administration including medical, dental, life, disability, 401K, COBRA, tuition reimbursement and flexible spending 
  • Processing separate payrolls for yearly bonus programs, garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, quarterly tax verifications, third party sick ay and worker compensation reports 
  • etc. 

MUST HAVE:

  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material 
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills 
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events 
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated knowledge of payroll preventative and detective controls
